Canadian Gold Maple leaf coins were initially available as .999 fine gold content weighing 1 oz only. Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) first introduced its .9999 pure gold in the year 1982 and the same tradition lingered since then. The obverse side of 2020 1 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins have the right side profile portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This was designed by artist Susanna Blunt in 2003 and is the 4^th generation portrait of the Queen.

The sugar maple leaf is engraved on the reverse side of 2020 1 oz Gold Maple Leaf Coin. The current design of the reverse side of the coin was made by Walter Ott and has been a beauty since then. The design became so popular that the mint used the same on all other metals versions of maple leaf gold coins.
